Job Description

The Resident Engineer will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing construction projects, acting as a liaison between the client and the project team. They will be responsible for implementing effective project management procedures, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements and client procedures. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with client representatives to discuss project progress and address concerns.
  • Propose and implement project management procedures to meet contract and client expectations.
  • Establish and maintain specific procedures for design and construction supervision management.
  • Prepare special reports for the Project Director/Manager, investigating and recommending solutions to service-related issues.
  • Identify priorities, tasks, and organizational structure, providing clear direction to achieve project goals.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for the project management staff.
  • Attend executive and progress meetings, representing the project management team.
  • Monitor performance to ensure successful delivery of key performance indicators and client requirements.
  • Advise the Project Manager on potential variations in scope of work and their potential impact.
  • Assist the Project Director in assessing variations and claims, presenting technical assessments to the client.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in a Construction Management role.
  • PMP, CIOB, RICS, or similar certification is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects in dynamic and challenging environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new skills as required.
