Who are we looking for?

The Resident Construction Manager will provide on-site construction management and oversight for major rail, transit, roadway, and infrastructure projects. Located in Dallas, TX, this position acts as a vital liaison in the field, fostering collaboration among contractors, design consultants, and project teams to ensure seamless delivery and project success.

The Resident Construction Manager will monitor day-to-day construction activities and provide leadership in resolving field issues while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, cost control, and successful project delivery. The position requires extensive field presence and the ability to work effectively in active rail, transit, roadway, and transportation environments.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Serve as the primary on-site construction management representative for assigned rail, transit, roadway, and infrastructure projects.
• Provide daily oversight of contractor construction activities, including civil, structural, track, stations, drainage, utilities, roadway, bridges, systems, facilities, and other transportation-related work as applicable.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and applicable standards.
• Review construction schedules, monitor progress, identify potential delays, and work with contractors and project teams to develop recovery strategies.
• Coordinate daily activities among contractors, subcontractors, design consultants, utilities, public agencies, operations and maintenance personnel, and other project stakeholders.
• Monitor construction quality and verify that work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, inspection requirements, and quality-control procedures.
• Coordinate and document inspections, testing, punch-list activities, substantial completion, final acceptance, and project closeout.
• Review and track RFIs, submittals, change requests, field directives, non-conformance issues, and other construction documentation.
• Identify potential construction issues early and facilitate timely resolution with the contractor, designer, and project management team.
• Review contractor pay applications and quantities for accuracy and confirm that work has been completed in accordance with the contract.
• Monitor project costs, changes, claims, and potential impacts to the project budget.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, inspection records, photographs, correspondence, meeting records, and other project documentation.
• Participate in progress meetings, coordination meetings, safety meetings, and stakeholder meetings.
• Coordinate construction activities that may affect rail operations, transit service, roadways, pedestrian access, utilities, public facilities, and adjacent properties.
• Ensure appropriate work-zone controls, traffic-control measures, public safety measures, and railroad/transit protection requirements are implemented.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance personnel to minimize impacts to existing transportation services, facilities, and infrastructure.
• Monitor contractor safety performance and immediately escalate unsafe conditions or activities.
• Assist with review and implementation of construction sequencing, work plans, outage plans, maintenance-of-traffic plans, and temporary conditions.
• Support testing, startup, integration, and commissioning activities for completed facilities and systems.
• Assist project management with claims evaluation, negotiations, risk management, and resolution of construction disputes.
• Provide technical input regarding constructability, sequencing, field conditions, and proposed design changes.
• Support project turnover, record documentation, as-built verification, warranty activities, and final closeout.

What you will bring to the Team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive construction management experience, preferably on major transportation, transit, railroad, roadway, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience serving in an owner’s representative, resident engineer, resident construction manager, construction manager, or similar field leadership role.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and technical documents.
• Experience with commuter rail, light rail, heavy rail, railroad, transit, roadway, bridge, or other major transportation infrastructure projects.
• Experience working on projects involving active rail operations, transit service, roadways, or other operating transportation facilities.
• Experience with track, stations, signals, communications, traction power, grade crossings, roadway improvements, bridges, drainage, utilities, facilities, or transit systems.
• Experience with TxDOT, FTA, FRA, FHWA, APTA, or other applicable transportation, transit, and infrastructure standards and requirements.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or other scheduling platforms.
• Experience with document management and construction management platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, e-Builder, or similar systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE), CCM, DBIA, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
