The Mission of Helping Hands is to provide HOPE and CARE through personal, trauma-informed programs to individuals experiencing homelessness

Our programs are Trauma-Informed, Data-Driven, and Person-Centered.

We take the time to learn each individual's story and help connect them to the appropriate local resources and services to meet their unique needs. We do not duplicate available services; instead, we build strong collaborative partnerships with local programs and foster connections between participants and our community partners.

This recruitment will be used to fill current position as well as develop a potential pool of applicants for future vacancies at our Bybee Lakes HOPE Center. Shifts may include graveyard. Starting wage is $18.90 per hour. Full-time positions are benefit-eligible after 90 days of employment. Willing to consider part-time and/or temporary.

• Supervise shelter activities to ensure the safety of participants.
• Responsible for intakes, interviews, and after-hours referrals.
• Ensure timely bunk assignments, dorm inspections, and property storage.
• Maintain accurate logs, shift reports, and participant records, both manually and using a web-based program.
• Perform urinalysis and breathalyzer testing of participants as needed.
• Attend agency and program staff meetings.
• Facilitate de-escalation, problem-solving and crisis intervention services as necessary.
• The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and is able to deal with difficult situations in positive and constructive ways.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to appropriately assess a situation and de-escalate/take corrective action as necessary.
• Good computer skills.
• Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff, and interaction with the general public.
• Work is primarily performed indoors, occasionally accompanied by moderate noise levels and exposure to scents.
• Frequently required to sit/stand at a computer or in a stationary position.
• Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as copy machine, printer, and phone.
• Frequently required to move about the 155,000 square foot facility for meetings, assisting participants, and daily operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct or Lived Experience with DV, homelessness, addiction, and/or low-income populations.
• Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault
