Job Description
The Winter Resident Advisor (RA) position will play a vital role in enhancing the residential experience for students at Allegheny College. Under the guidance of the Director of Housing and Residence Life, Winter RAs will support various Winter operations through in-office work, including operational analysis, curriculum development, programming, Spring 2027 Resident Advisor training, and project management. Additionally, Winter RAs will maintain a safe and vibrant residential community for Winter residents by participating in on-call duty rotations, responding to after-hours emergencies and providing support and assistance as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in on-call duty rotations during Winter Break student residence halls, responding to emergencies and problems, including maintenance issues.
- Fulfill administrative responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner, including documentation, duty logs, incident reports, and other required tasks.
- Create professional development materials and presentations to enhance the skills and knowledge of the RA team.
- Attend regular Winter Break staff meetings, and collaborate with fellow Winter Break RAs and Student Life staff, maintaining open and transparent communication with supervisors and peers.
- Provide administrative assistance to the Student Life professional staff, including responding to inquiries and maintaining accurate records.
- Assist with Winter Break move-in and move-out operations and procedures.
- Contribute to designing and delivering comprehensive training programs for Spring 2027 Resident Advisor Training.
- Participate in research of best practices in residence life and housing to inform residential curriculum design.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current enrollment as a student at Allegheny College that has matriculated prior to the fall of 2026; and, is a current Resident Advisor in one of the Allegheny College Residencies for the 2026-2027 academic term.
- Good academic standing with a minimum GPA requirement of 2.0. If a GPA falls below 2.0, the staff member may be removed from their position.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse groups of students.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and a commitment to promoting inclusivity, respect, and personal responsibility within the residential community.
- Availability to fulfill on-call duties and attend required meetings, training sessions, and programming events.
