RESIDENCE LIFE COORDINATOR

Under the supervision of the Director of Residence Lifeand a coordinating supervisor from the Division of CampusLife and Student Development (CLSD), aResidence Life Coordinator(RLC)provides direct support tothe residential experience and larger campus community through supervision of a residential area and work with a coordinating assignment.

The RLC Position is a 12-month, non-exempt, and full-time appointment. This is a live-on position with on-campus housing provided. Normal hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday; however, will vary widely to include working evenings and weekends, contingent on an on-call schedule and campus events. The minimum working expectation will be40 hoursper week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

RESIDENCE LIFE

  • Develop and supervise activities and events designed to enhance the residential experience and complement in-class learning;maintaina sense of community within the halls by upholding college policies.

  • Supervise assigned student workers (typically a staff of 10 student resident assistants),facilitatestaff meetings and conduct regular one-on-ones, andassistinthe recruitment,selectionandtraining of resident assistants.

  • Utilize eRezLife software and other computer applications tomaintainadministrative records for assigned residential areas.

  • Assistwith other housing and administrative functions as needed including, but not limited to, opening and closing of residence halls, health and safety inspections, and key management.

  • Provide excellent customer service to students, families, and other community members.

  • Participate in the Coordinator on-call rotation through the Office of Residence Life, including weeknight and weekend coverage and responding to crisis and emergency situations, as necessary.

  • AdheretoCollegepolicies and practices in matters of student administration, including the handling of confidential student information.

  • Assistwith major College events such as, but not limited, toFirst-Year Orientation, Family Weekend,Homecoming, andCommencement.

  • Other duties as assigned.

COORDINATING POSITION

Each RLC will beassignedone coordinating position. In this coordinating position, the RLC will work with asupervisor in CLSD to receiveadditionalsupport, training, and experience

Current coordinating assignmentsinclude:Housing Operations and Communication, Residential Leadership and Education, Campus Recreations and Intramurals,and Fraternity and Sorority LifeOur expected openings include the RLC for Housing Operations and Communication andFraternity and Sorority Life.Coordinating assignments can vary from year to year.

RLC for Housing Operations and Communication

  • Assistwiththe construction, communication, and implementation of the housing lottery. Thisincludes,emails, roommate matching events, tabling, and informational sessions.

  • Hire, supervise, and train Central Office deskworkers

  • Organize and manage check in and check outprocesses

  • Oversee housing processes including late stay/early arrival and roomchanges

  • Assistwith planning training of HRAs and RAs

  • Assistwith planning RA recruitment andselectionand manage the selection process inErezlife

RLC for Residential Leadership and Education

  • Create programming resources for each RA programmingblock

  • Plan,scheduleand implement RA and HRAtraining

  • Create a timeline and recruitment plan for RAselectionand lead communication and scheduling with RAcandidates

  • Supervise the RA Leadership Team, meeting biweekly with the student leaders to provide ongoing development and engagement in thedepartment

  • Assistwith promoting departmental initiatives through department social media

  • Plan and implement ongoing training for RA staffduring monthly all-staffmeetings

  • Plan department events, including the new RA luncheon and RAbanquet

RLC forCampus Recreations and Intramurals

  • Hire, train, andmanageofficials andofficialsupervisors

  • Develop a robust calendar of intramural activities for students and organize the scheduling and communication around theseevents

  • Reserve spaces for intermural events and collaborate with Athletics about sharedspaces

  • Keep track ofresource needs for intramurals and restock inventory as appropriate.

  • Compile fitness class opportunitiesfor students toparticipatein throughout theyear

  • Work with peer institutionstoprovide collaborativeprogramming opportunities forstudents

RLC for Fraternity and Sorority Life

  • Completes weekly facilities walkthrough of the Stewart H. Johnson Greek Village

  • Supports Greek Life programming

  • Assistswith planning and implementation of spring Primary Recruitment and Greek Week

  • Meets regularly with governing councils and student organization leaders

  • Continueddevelopmental opportunities and responsibilities will be assessed oncecandidateis hired.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Demonstrated aptitude for working and communicating effectively in a professional manner

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and respond effectively in high-stress situations

Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and workplace andanability to work effectively witha diversefaculty and student populations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Effective computerproficiencyand knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Experience in an on-call rotation and/or with crisis response

Demonstrated commitment to the values and goals of a highly residential, liberal arts college

Experience with housing/occupancy management software (direct experience with eRezLife is highly desirable).

REQUIRED SKILLS OR ABILITIES

Applicants would need to be able to climb three flights of stairs as this position serves in the first-level professional on-callrotationand not every residential hall can be accessed by elevator.This position can require light physical work. Therefore, the candidatemust be able tooccasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The Residence Life Coordinatoris required tolive on campus. Candidates are provided a semi-furnished, on-campus apartment (including paid utilities and high-speed internet) in addition to a regular meal plan for campus dining, access to free campus laundry services, free campus parking, access to free workout facilities, and free admission to home athletic events. This appointment is also eligible for comprehensive major medical health insurance and other benefits.
