Job purpose

The Reservoir engineer is part of the Well Reservoir Facilities Management team in the Petroleum Engineering Department. The primary job purpose is to ensure asset value maximization, development planning and optimization decisions. The incumbent is also need to ensure the optimum recovery of remaining reserves and production within optimal operating envelope.

Duties and responsibilities

  • and participate in in-house reservoir studies and provide technical consultation support to internal/external reservoir studies (validation, assess quality of deliverables).
  • Check with the Study Team on the dynamic simulation model for short, medium and long term production forecasts and design a reservoir management strategy.
  • Support the Study Team to update the reservoir simulation model for field development plans, depletion planning, forecast and reserves assessment.
  • Daily reservoir production and performance monitoring in order to meet production criteria while adhering to prudent reservoir management plan.
  • Formulate, review and enhance reservoir management and surveillance plans.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve reservoir ultimate recovery and production targets.
  • Provide support to other groups for well intervention, proposal, data acquisition and reservoir evaluation.
  • Provide technical advice and support on infill, appraisal and development drilling.
  • Get production forecasts from the Study Team (simulation models and/or other acceptable reservoir engineering techniques).
  • Conduct well and reservoir review, present recommendation to team and stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure a comprehensive range in subsurface uncertainties understanding has been thoroughly evaluated and passed on to develop production forecast, input, assumptions for WPB, STPF/LTPF etc.
  • Ensure integration and consistency between engineering and geological interpretations by close collaboration with the Study Team and other professionals (Production Technologist, Petrophysicists, geologists, geophysicist, operations and facilities engineers)
  • Evaluate new technologies and applications to the reservoirs to improve ultimate recovery and encourage knowledge sharing amongst peers and colleagues.
  • Mentoring and training and enhance capability of less experienced colleagues and junior staff in all aspects of surveillance and reservoir management.

Qualifications

Degree in Petroleum Engineering In-depth knowledge of reservoir management. Experience and good technical knowledge and understanding of reservoir drives mechanism, stimulation design, well test analysis, decline curve analysis, production forecast and artificial lifts applications. Previously working in a multi-cultural and multi-nationalities team. Knowledge of well completion, intervention, drilling and workover procedures and regulations. Oil and Gas, Wells design and integrity monitoring and management from conceptual and construction until abandonment Experience in reservoir engineering software: PI, PVTSim, Kappa’s Saphire and OFM.

Experience

Minimum 10 - 15 years’ experiences with an operator with in-depth technical knowledge and capability in reservoir engineering and reservoir studies (water flooding, gas injection etc.). Experience in both Clastic and Carbonate reservoirs development and recovery strategies Previously working in a multi-cultural and multi-nationalities team, international experience.

Language proficiency, computer and software skills

Must be able to speak upper intermediate and above English. Arabic is an advantage. Knowledge of Eclipse (Basic), Petrel RE, IPSM, OFM. Experience in other petroleum engineering standard software (Intermediate): I, EC, PVTSim Kappa’s Saphir or other software is an advantage.

Skills

Good communication and analytical skills are essential. Eagerness to learn and develop own skills. Strong leadership skills, ability to delegate, and work with minimum supervision. Must have a HSSE driven mindset. The ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds will be essential. The position will involve working with government, vendors or partner representatives. Experience and good understanding of reservoir development, simulation, stimulation design, well test analysis, decline curve analysis, production forecast and artificial lifts. Knowledge of well completion, intervention and workover procedures and regulations. Experience and knowledge of oil and gas wells integrity monitoring and management from construction until abandonment. Experience in supervising operations of production enhancements, well completion, intervention and workover procedures and regulations. Good diagnostic skills are required to troubleshoot problems. Must be able to communicate at a technical level with various stakeholders. Production Technologist/Planners: well performance, analysis and well integrity. Petroleum Engineers: production performance, production forecasts, development planning. Finance/Commercial department: reporting and forecasting of produced and export volumes. Operations & Maintenance: system performance and optimization opportunities. Metering: metering and mismeasurement issues
