Job Description

As a senior member of one of our L&H Reserving Teams, you will play an integral role in producing and explaining valuation results for SCOR’s global Life & Health business.

Your responsibilities will span a range of valuation activities, including reporting under IFRS 17, Solvency II, and local statutory bases. You will ensure that valuation results are produced, analysed and processed completely, accurately and efficiently as part of the quarterly financial close process.

You will also undertake other critical tasks such as data and results validation and analysis, sensitivity & stress testing, and process enhancements. Throughout your journey, you will receive mentoring and support to help shape your career path at SCOR.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the SCOR Group and participate in projects aimed at improving efficiency and innovation within the valuation process.

  • Production of results under IFRS and Solvency II bases
  • Performing and explaining the Analysis of Change for various reporting bases, with ability to communicate technical results and value-adding insights to diverse audiences, including preparing and presenting reports to senior management and stakeholders

  • Timely and accurate delivery for cashflow sensitivities and analysis used for SCOR annual internal model calibration

  • Serve as the direct liaison with group and business unit functions for Group reporting topics

  • Liaise closely with L&H business teams including Operations, Pricing & In-force Management teams, to ensure consistency
  • Ensure that appropriate and auditable controls, reconciliations, and documentation are maintained with respect to all valuation and projection processes

  • Support the annual actuarial audit process, communicating with external auditors
  • Review existing processes & tools to identify opportunities to streamline and automate, leveraging technology to increase efficiency.
  • Share in the development of a team of actuaries, with a particular focus on mentoring a strong group of emerging leaders across the department

  • Act as key resource for new developments in reserving issues, methods, and regulations
  • Participate in the development and implementation of company-wide strategic initiatives and special assignments as required.

Experiences :

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in insurance or reinsurance working in a valuation / reserving, cashflow analysis or actuarial modelling context
  • Qualified actuary

  • Knowledge of either Solvency II of IFRS17 reporting required

  • Strong understanding of Life and Health (re)insurance and reserving practices and products

  • Significant experience in understanding, explaining and analysing financial impacts and drivers of change

  • Experience managing projects and effectively representing your department

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement departmental processes and controls and ensure these are appropriately documented

  • Proficient in actuarial software, database, and reporting tools

  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex actuarial models

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, engineering, physics or equivalent quantitative field
