At Bosch Research, research meets application. Around 1,700 experts around the world develop the technologies of tomorrow and beyond. The world in which we live is changing rapidly. Global trends such as climate change and digitalization influence virtually every area of day-to-day life. One thing that doesn’t change is Bosch’s mission to create technology that is “Invented for life” in other words using technological innovations to improve people’s quality of life and using natural resources responsibly. Bosch Research sees itself as the spearhead of innovation at Bosch: Our researchers are involved in around a quarter of the patent applications filed by Bosch. On the one hand, we help all Bosch divisions to develop the next generation of products or the generation after that. On the other hand, we look far into the future: with our partners in science and industry, we identify technologies and trends which will shape our lives in the future and make them usable for the entire company. As a global team with around 1,700 experts from all over the world, we cover a wide range of areas with our research. Whether it be automation, digitalization and connectivity, artificial intelligence (AI), electrification, climate action and sustainability or healthcare: Bosch Research combines top-level research with specific technological developments.

The Research and Technology Center at Bangalore focuses on research in Agentic AI, Gen AI, Natural language processing, Numerical methods, Embedded real time systems, Real-time distributed systems and AI/ML enhanced modelling & simulations. We pursue research and development by working with top-tier universities worldwide and our corporate partners.
Roles & Responsibilities :
For this profile, the focus is set on numerical modeling and simulations for Multiphysics problems which are of great importance for proper long-term functioning of Bosch products.
At a top level the focus of this role would be towards implementing strategies for cross-scale description of the interaction of multi-phase fluids and metals in the direction of electrochemistry and fluid dynamics.
You will need to leverage your profound knowledge of numerical methods and algorithms for solving PDEs to solve 2D/3D multi-physics models using numerical techniques along with the requisite scripting and programming.
You’ll parameterize and validate models with available data using optimization methods and multivariate statistics.
For certain modelling tasks you’ll combine physics-based models with data-based approaches for efficiency and accuracy gains. This is not the focus of this role, but good to have skill and might me sparingly useful.
You will work in international teams and perform necessary development / implementation tasks to accomplish the research goals.
Educational qualification:
MS/M. Tech, PhD from top Indian institutes (IITs, IISc etc.) or from top international institutes in Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engg, Aerospace Engg, Engineering Physics or any other streams where the candidate has gained demonstrable knowledge of Numerical Methods and algorithms and it’s application for solving PDEs.
Experience :
3+ years
Mandatory/requires Skills :
Profound knowledge and experience of advanced numerical techniques like Finite element, Finite Volume and Finite difference methods, Discontinuous Galerkin method, Meshless methods, Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian methods for moving meshes. The list is non-exhaustive, the more methods and techniques one knows in depth the better. This is a non-negotiable skill. If your skill is all about modelling and coming up with the equations describing a system but the subsequent simulation using numerical methods is a secondary focus, this is not the right role for you. If you know only to use numerical methods via simulation tools like ANSYS, ABAQUs, COMSOL, OpenFOAM etc. and don’t have in depth knowledge of the theory behind the methods this is not a right role for you. We are looking for candidates with deep understanding of numerical methods.
Excellent coding skills in Python and C++ including version control (e.g. Git), software testing, linting is non -negotiable. We prefer candidates who has experience in writing codes for solvers and numerical simulations from scratch.
Experience in the field of modeling and simulations for Multiphysics phenomena
Knowledge of Partial Differential equations and Linear Algebra
Knowledge and experience in Optimization methods
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Skills :
Experience in Simulations using OpenFOAM and/or COMSOL
Competent in application of Data analysis and machine learning techniques, preferably with Python
Familiarity with high performance computing will be an added advantage.
