Job Description

We are seeking a technician (40 hrs/week) to assist with extracting and analyzing carotenoids from a wide range of fruits and vegetables. These data will eventually be added to FoodData Central, a US government database of food nutritional information. The technician will help optimize extraction and analysis protocols while meticulously recording data and other observations. The technician will also be responsible for curating samples from collaborators.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Develops methodology to optimize extraction protocols for carotenoids.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
  • Runs and analyzes samples using high performance liquid chromatography.
  • Analyzes data to ensure sufficient quality.
  • Documents results of experiments and prepares summary reports.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Work Authorization Requirement:
