Job Description

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigeria nationals for the position below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

Position: Research Technician II (2 Positions)

Contract: 2-years renewable contract

Location: Ibadan

Closing Date: 12 June 2026

DUTIES:

  • Drive within and outside IITA, convey staff and casual to and from field.
  • Supervise subordinate staff, Polytechnic and College of Agriculture students on Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
  • Assist in planning and establishment of laboratory, screenhouse and field trials and data collection
  • Assist in data collection and Trial management.
  • Perform screenhouse trial management and making crosses.
  • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:

OND in Crop Production, Agricultural Science or related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Basic knowledge of crop management operations in experimental fields.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal relationships with other colleagues.
  • Good time management.
  • Knowledge of cowpea crosses.
