The Monell Chemical Senses Center, with more than forty Ph.D. and M.D.-level scientists, is the world’s leading nonprofit scientific institute devoted to basic research on the chemical senses: taste, smell, and sensory nutrition. The Breslin laboratory at the Monell Chemical Senses Center is seeking a full-time Research Technician to help conduct human taste research.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Preparation of taste stimuli
  • Recruitment of human subjects
  • Writing experimental protocols and methods
  • Testing of human subjects in accordance with NIH guidelines and using appropriate controls for experiments
  • Data entry, management, graphing, and analyses

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (psychology, biology or related science). Prior laboratory experience is valued.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to keep accurate records of the research performed.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and software including MS Office.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory, collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented individual capable of working as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Preferred experience includes human subject testing and analyses of data
