Occupational Summary:

Woods/McClain Lab is seeking a Research Technician I to assist our team in conducting a variety of investigations in the planning, development and implementation of experimental procedures within the overall scope of research projects.

Perform molecular and biological procedures.

Work closely with clinical research staff in the collections, handling, processing, and inventory management of clinical research biospecimens.

Maintain barcode-based chain-of-custody tracking and electronic inventory management of clinical samples and derivatives for current and future research uses.

Maintain a current and well-detailed laboratory notebook and data management plan for all experiments.

Assist with general lab tasks such as media presentation, restocking of lab supplies, preparation of buffers and solutions, and other basic tasks.

Review lab methods and protocols, scientific journals, abstracts and other literature for information applicable to research experiments

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Experience & Skills Required:

Work requires a bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology, chemistry or other science related scientific field. Basic knowledge and skills in molecular laboratory techniques are strongly desired, along with excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $20.00 to USD $27.02. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
