Texas A&M University’s Department of Atmospheric Sciences is looking for a Research Technician to support research focused on air pollution. This role will involve assisting with data analysis and numerical modeling using satellite observations to study atmospheric processes and pollution dynamics.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Assembles and operates a numerical modeling system.

  • Provides logistical support with data storage in the laboratory.

  • Assists senior staff members in conducting data analysis and modeling procedures.

  • Assist undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.

  • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Salary: $15.85 per hour

Please note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University researches the physical processes that influence and determine our climate as well as providing insight into how and why the climate changes. Topics studied in the department include the physics of convection, climate variability, feedback physics, climate sensitivity, climate extremes, and regional modeling. Variability and predictability of climate on seasonal to millennial timescales, coupled ocean-atmosphere interaction, large-scale dynamics of the atmosphere and the oceans.
