The laboratory of Jin Wang in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University is seeking a Research Technician to support ongoing research in wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies.
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research activities, assist with laboratory operations, support experimental studies, and help advance projects in semiconductor materials and devices.
The target hiring range for this job profile is $19.28 - $25.19/hr. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
Essential Duties

Develops and implements partial‑discharge detection circuits and associated hardware through iterative PCB design, signal‑conditioning optimization, and mechanical layout refinement; integrates sensors, shielding structures, and high‑voltage interfaces to ensure robust noise performance; validates circuit behavior under representative electrical stress conditions; prepares hardware prototypes, wiring diagrams, and measurement outputs for comparison with system‑level requirements and for use in group presentations and documentation.

Supports PINN‑based detection workflows by configuring experimental setups, executing controlled partial‑discharge tests, and generating high‑quality datasets for model training and evaluation; performs signal preprocessing, labeling, and data‑curation tasks to ensure consistency across measurement campaigns; assists in analyzing model behavior, comparing prediction accuracy against baseline methods, and preparing figures and datasets for internal reviews and collaborative research activities.

Contributes to technical reports, presentations, and publications by summarizing experimental procedures, organizing results, and generating plots, diagrams, and hardware schematics; assists in drafting method and results sections, formatting manuscripts for submission, and preparing slide decks for conferences and sponsor meetings; collaborates with researchers to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across all communication materials.
