Research Support Specialist

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor of Science Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biomedical science or clinical medicine. Experience working with maintaining mouse colonies and small rodent surgery independently. Experience in cell culture, western blotting, PCR, qPCR, DNA gel. Experience in supervising undergraduate students.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Degree (foreign equivalent) in biomedical science or clinical medicine.

Brief Description of Duties:
Within defined test or analytical protocols, operate equipment, carry out test procedures, as well as collate and interpret data using special methods in support of a research project or program for Dr. Chiung-Kuei Huang in the Department of Medicine-Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to demonstrate professional competence in research activities.

Duties:

  • Conduct experiments; provide technical laboratory support, and/or animal handling to assist with experiments conducted.

  • Collect data, record observations measurements and prepare reports for review of supervisor and or PI.

  • Perform literature search; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and/or PI.

  • Other duties or projects as assigned.
