Entry Clinical Science Professionals perform clinical research related functions which may include patient- oriented research or research conducted with human subjects. Patient-oriented research includes mechanisms of human disease, therapeutic interventions, clinical trials, or development of new technologies. Entry Clinical Science Professionals may also assist with epidemiologic and behavioral studies and/or outcomes research and health services research.

This role will support human subjects research studies conducted within the Rehabilitation and Biomechanics (RAB) Laboratory. Responsibilities include participant recruitment and scheduling, laboratory operations, assistance with biomechanical data collection, data management, literature review, and assistance with dissemination of research findings. Current projects include NIH-funded studies investigating dynamic joint stability and musculoskeletal function in individuals with generalized joint hypermobility

Duties:

  • Assistwithandoverseethedaytodayoperationsofclinicaltrialsand studies

  • Obtainstudysubject’smedicalhistoryandcurrentmedicationinformation,reviewsresearchprotocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in clinical trial

  • Performinformedconsentprocessorensuresthattheinformedconsentprocesshasoccurred,is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required

  • Interviewprospectivesubjectsforavarietyofresearchclinicaltrials.Educatepotentialsubjectsonthe details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interviews

  • Schedulesubjectparticipationinresearchclinicaltrial,coordinatingavailabilityofnecessaryspace, and clinical research support (e.g., physician, nurse practitioner, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy)

  • Collect,code,andanalyzedataobtainedfromresearchinanaccurateandtimely manner

  • Adheretoresearchregulatory standards

  • Maintain detailed records ofstudies to ensure compliance with requirements of the Food and Drug Administration(FDA),studyprotocols,department,hospital/clinicalstandardoperatingprocedures and other regulatory guidelines

  • Participateinsubjectrecruitmentefforts,includingcommunicatingwithpatientsexpressingan interest and all pre-screening/screening activities

  • Ensurethatthenecessarysuppliesandequipmentforstudiesareinstockandinworking order

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with integration of equipment and software, and troubleshooting technical aspects of data collection.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and testing spaces to support ongoing research activities.

  • Coordinate with other research teams sharing equipment and lab space.

  • Assist with development, implementation, and revision of research protocols and study procedures.

  • Assist with organizing documentation and data collection materials.

  • Operate research equipment including motion capture systems, force plates, dynamometers, load cells, electromyography systems, and other laboratory instrumentation.

  • Prepare participants and testing environments, collect study data according to established protocols, and document testing procedures.

  • Schedule and communicate with research participants for ongoing research studies.

  • Coordinate participant visits and monitor study activities to support successful completion of research projects.

  • Enter, organize, and verify research data within study data management systems.

  • Assist with data preparation and organization for analysis, reporting, and dissemination activities.

  • Conduct literature searches and summarize scientific evidence relevant to ongoing research projects.

  • Participate in research team meetings and contribute to project planning activities.

  • Assist with preparation of abstracts, scientific presentations, posters, manuscripts, and research reports.

  • Perform other research-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Work Location:

Hybrid – Work will primarily take place in person at the Interdisciplinary Movement Science (IMS) Lab on the Anschutz Medical Campus. A limited number of hours (< 5) per week may be performed remotely.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.

  • Substitution:A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in engineering, kinesiology, or physiology.

  • Clinicalresearchorrelated experience.

  • Experiencewithelectronicdatacapturesystems(e.g.EMRorEHRanddatamanagement systems).

  • Experience working in a biomechanics lab (optical motion capture, isokinetic dynamometer, force plates)

  • Coding experience (MATLAB, python)

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $24-$30.51 per hour.
