Job Title: Research Services Entry Laboratory Professional

This is an Entry Research Services Laboratory Sciences position that will support the laboratory of Dr. Yunsik Kang at the University of Colorado School of Medicine at the Department of Cell & Developmental Biology.
The lab professional will contribute to maintaining the lab and conducting basic science research on neuronal remodeling using Drosophila as a model system. The lab professional will learn and employ molecular-genetic and cell biological techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
·Collaborate with and support Principal Investigator (PI) and lab members with laboratory and research functions
·Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects
·Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research
·Maintenance of a laboratory inventory. Ordering and restocking reagents for the laboratory.
·Maintenance and genotyping of mouse colonies.
·Maintenance of mouse and human cell cultures.
·Molecular cloning
·Molecular and histological analysis of mouse tissues, including genomic DNA isolation, PCR, RNA isolation, gene expression analysis by qPCR and NGS sequencing, protein localization or quantification by immunofluorescence analysis, Western blotting, or ELISA assay.
·In vitro knockdown experiments using siRNA followed by quantitative analysis of gene expression.
·Assist in the review and implementation of lab support policies, practices and programs to meet organizational, operations and management needs
·Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; receive guidance and direction or escalate when required
You do not need to be an expert in all techniques listed, although it would be helpful if you are familiar with some of them. Dr. Kang can teach you techniques as long as you are motivated to learn and ask questions.
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
·Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
·A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
·Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
·One (1) to three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet lab.
·Two (2) to three (3) semesters of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $47,811 – $58,861.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
