The Research Senior Technician provides support on an externally funded, enhanced surveillance program assessing trends in incidence of gonorrhea and syphilis in Ohio.

This position plays a central role in the day-to-day coordination and execution of the project, including contacting clients for interviews, collecting and managing data, and maintaining regulatory documentation. The Research Senior Technician works closely with the Principal Investigator and team of collaborators at Columbus Public Health to guarantee that the project is conducted in accordance with approved protocols, timelines, and regulatory requirements.

This role requires independent judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining compliance with institutional policies and sponsor expectations. This position does not include formal supervision. The Research Senior Technician is expected to exercise discretion, professionalism, and initiative while supporting the project.

**This position is contingent upon funding and will end on or before six months of employment, with possibility of renewal based on continued availability of funding and performance.**

Additional Information:

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED
  • 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate’s degree
  • 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in epidemiology or a related field, or advanced undergraduate training in statistics.
  • Experience cleaning, coding, and modeling cross-sectional and longitudinal data using SAS, Stata or R
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Experience enrolling participants into a research study
  • Experience working on an interdisciplinary team

Pay Range: $19.28-$25.19 per hour. This position is a 0.25 FTE role working 10 hours a week.

Pay will be based off of education, experience, internal equity, and budget allowance.

Essential Job Duties

70% - Recruitment, enrollment, and data entry

Calls randomly-selected recent gonorrhea cases using secure data collection approaches. Records all contact attempts and dispositions cases in a REDCap form. Administers a standardized survey over the phone and enters data into REDCap. May provide assistance and training for less experienced colleagues.

10% - Research Communication and Collaboration

Participates in meetings with OSU and CDC colleagues. Performs preliminary statistical analyses. Generates reports for CDC, Columbus Public Health or other internal or external audiences.

10% - Maintain regulatory records and standard operating procedures

Follows established procedures and documents changes and updates when needed. Ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

10% - Other tasks as needed
