Research Senior Associate in Spray Technology Development and Modeling Fate and Transport of Pesticide Droplets

The Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the Ohio State University invites applications for a Research Associate position in development of crop protection spray technologies and modeling fate and transport of pesticide droplets. The successful candidates will be work on (1) lab and field-scale measurement of fate and transport of pesticide droplets; 2) development of electrostatic sprayers, and (3) modeling dispersion and fate and transport of agricultural air emissions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

a) Conducting research project tasks including 1) implementation of the research plans, such as system installation, data collection and analysis, data quality control; 2) preparation of the research reports, 3) presentation of the research papers/findings at professional conferences and industry-oriented workshops, and 4) preparation of manuscripts resulting from the research for refereed publications.

b) Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate research assistants in the group

c) Assisting development and preparation of grant proposals.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's in agricultural, biological, or environmental engineering or closely related field, with training/background in agricultural air emission monitoring, mitigation, and modeling; Must have 1 year of relevant experience with a Master's or 3 years with a Bachelor's; Ability to think creatively and critically; Excellent communication skills; Strong work ethics; and aspiration and dedication to a successful academic or industry career. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of U.S. food animal production systems; Strong commitment to pursing academic excellence, as evidenced by publication of refereed articles, conference proceedings, manuscripts under review, and grant proposal activities.
