Job Description

Job Title

Research Scientist – Physics of Computed Tomography (all genders)

In this role, you will work in the field of systems and physics of computed tomography to help address unmet clinical needs in precision diagnosis.

You will contribute to clinical CT systems and solutions focused on image quality, spectral results, radiation dose reduction and image reconstruction to increase diagnostic confidence and enable new clinical insights.

Your role:

  • Develop, implement and validate innovative technologies for processing and calibration of non-spectral, spectral and photon-counting x-ray detectors in medical CT.

  • Apply your know-how in x-ray physics, solid-state physics, medical imaging, algorithm development, advanced signal processing and AI to modern computed tomography.

  • Develop and drive your own ideas for technological advances in CT and adjacent domains.

  • Collaborate in interdisciplinary projects with business partners and clinical partners to transfer research results into clinically meaningful innovation.

You should bring the following:

  • Master degree in physics, electrical engineering or data science/AI.

  • Expertise in medical imaging physics, including generation, interaction with matter and detection of x-rays, with in-depth knowledge of computed tomography.

  • Technical and clinical understanding of medical imaging, predominantly CT.

  • Proficiency in modern programming, especially C/C++ and Python, including data science and AI tooling such as NumPy or PyTorch.

  • Familiarity with deep learning, for example training neural networks, is an asset.

  • Ability to provide technical consultation and subject-matter expertise to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts, influence technical decisions and collaborate in global interdisciplinary R&D environments.

  • Proficiency in English; German would be a plus.
