We are seeking a Research Data Scientist to join an incredible team of researchers in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado Anschutz.Our physicians provide full prenatal care, maternal and fetal disease consultation, prenatal diagnosis, and genetic counseling for patients across Colorado and Wyoming. We are proud to support the Children’s Hospital of Colorado's Colorado Fetal Care Center (CFCC) which specializes in fetal diagnosis and in utero intervention. Key Responsibilities:
·Design, develop, and maintain high-quality EMR/EHR-based datasets to support retrospective cohort studies and real-world evidence generation
·Serve as the database manager for the PARITY database, the Colorado Fetal Care Center, and the Perinatal Research Advisory & Facilitation Committee
·Ensure data integrity, traceability, and alignment with study objectives through rigorous validation and documentation
·Develop and manage longitudinal datasets to evaluate clinical outcomes, treatment patterns, and health disparities
·Serve as a key resource for data strategy and methodological guidance across projects
·Contribute to continuous improvement of research data workflows and infrastructure
·Mentor junior researchers, medical students, residents, and fellows on study design, cohort development, and analytical methods
·Data Scientists are expected to 'own' a project and make meaningful progress, leading to 2+ journal/conference publications per year.
Work Location:
Remote – this role is eligible to work remotely, but the employee must be in the United States.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at time of hire
·Master’s or equivalent in Epidemiology, Clinical Science, Biostatistics, or a related field
·5 years of experience in clinical data management, epidemiology, or healthcare data science
·Strong experience working with EMR/EHR data systems (e.g., Epic Clarity, Caboodle)
·Expertise in retrospective cohort study design and longitudinal data analysis
·Proficiency in SQL, SAS, and/or similar analytical tools
·Strong understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), IRB processes, and regulatory compliance
·Demonstrated experience contributing to peer-reviewed research or academic publications

Preferred Qualifications:
·PhD or equivalent in Epidemiology, Clinical Science, Biostatistics, or a related field
·Advanced skills in statistical programming software (SAS, R, SPSS)
·Experience in OB/GYN, perinatal, or population health research
·Experience with REDCap or similar clinical research data capture tools
·First- or co-author publications in clinical or epidemiological research
·Experience working in an academic medical center or research institution
·Experience supporting grant-funded research or contributing to grant applications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·SQL skills for querying data (especially for cloud computing).
·Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, attention to detail and accuracy, and strong interpersonal skills.
·Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
·Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
·Outstanding customer service skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $96,000 - $101,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
