Research Scientist
Engineering | Civil Environmental and Geodetic Engineering
The Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Laboratory at the Ohio State University is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our team. The Research Scientist will maintain an active program of research in the topical areas of the built environment, environmental microbiology, environmental health sciences, and space biology. Responsibilities will include conducting and dissemination of IEQ research, pursuit of extramural funding, and presentations at national and/or international conferences. The proposed research may include independent and collaborative projects.

Minimum Education Required: PhD Environmental Sciences or related field
Preferred Education Experience: Environmental Engineering, Microbiology, and Health Science
Required Qualifications:
• At least two years of postdoctoral experience
• Experience with viral, bacterial, and fungal culturing
• Experience with molecular-based protocols such as qPCR, ELISAAssays, and DNA/RNA extractions.
• Experience with bioaerosols and controlled environmental chambers
• Ability to perform bioinformatics analyses of microbial data sets using R or Python
• Ability to use light, confocal, and scanning electron microscopy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and presentation skills
• Ability to conduct independent research
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with grant writing and securing additional funding
• Experience in mentoring and training lab members in research techniques
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with experience working collaboratively across multiple disciplines
