
Research Scientist
Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biomedical Sciences or closely related field.Three (3) years of research experience in laboratory-based or translational research, including experimental design and execution, to include at least one year of research experience following attainment of a Doctoral degree or foreign equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Postdoctoral research experience in a relevant scientific discipline. Track record of first-author or senior-author publications in peer-reviewed journals. Experience with grant writing that resulted in successful NIH, foundation, or federal award Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS) and application of appropriate analytic methods to biomedical research.Experience in women’s health, reproductive science, or obstetrics and gynecology research. Prior experience mentoring trainees or junior investigators. Experience designing and implementing laboratory workflows and experimental protocol including developing and refining SOPs to ensure rigor and reproducibility. Experience working in multidisciplinary teams including physicians.
Primary Purpose:
The Research Scientist is an independent investigator supporting theOBGYN Research DivisionThey contribute to the design, conduct, and dissemination of clinical and translational research. This role combines original research, collaborative study leadership, and methodological expertise to advance high-impact scientific work in women’s health. The Research Scientist partners with faculty, trainees, and research staff to develop innovative studies, secure external funding, and strengthen the division’s research infrastructure and portfolio.
●Contribute to building departmental research capacity by:
●Designing and implementing laboratory workflows and experimental protocols.
●Developing and refining SOPs to ensure rigor and reproducibility.
●Collaborating with faculty to establish new research programs.
●Maintain high standards of data integrity, quality control, and regulatory compliance in all analytical work.
●Sustain an independent research agenda aligned with departmental strategic goals and scientific focus areas.
●Lead and contribute to the development and submission of research proposals, aligned with the OBGYN department’s mission and in collaboration with faculty.
●Mentor and train faculty, fellows, residents, and students in laboratory techniques and research methodology.
●Lead and collaborate on study design, analytic strategy, and interpretation of findings
●Apply appropriate statistical methods to answer clinically and scientifically meaningful research questions.
●Synthesize and communicate findings through manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and other scholarly outputs.
●Contribute to the conceptualization and writing of grant proposals, including specific aims, research strategy, and analytic plans.
●Collaborate with faculty on study design and methodological approaches.
●Participate in pre-and post-award scientific reporting and dissemination.
●Coordinate and assist with the development and assembly of faculty's grant proposal components.
●Contribute to division-wide scientific initiatives, mentorship, and collaborative research activities.
