FULL TIME RESEARCH SCHOLAR

New York University Tandon School of Engineering

The Truong Lab for Programmable Regenerative Immunity(truonglab.com) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Full time Research Scholarto work in synthetic biology in human stem cells.

New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that make a difference in the world. The Truong lab is a synthetic biology group located in Manhattan focused on "writing" the genome in human stem cells to engineer new cell therapies and regenerative medicines.

Responsibilities

Candidates will be responsible for

  • working with human induced pluripotent stem cells;

  • building and assembling synthetic DNA constructs;

  • performing genetic engineering of the stem cells;

  • utilizing bioinformatics and machine learning approaches for guiding the protocols.

Salary range

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position starts at $48,000 per year, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.

Expected start date and period of employment

Expected start date is flexible. This position is expected to be for 6–12 months, depending on performance.

Qualifications

Candidates should have at least a B.S. in biomedical engineering, molecular biology, immunology, chemical engineering or a related field and 1 year of experience. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in biotechnology approaches as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience is desired for:

mammalian cell culture

PCR, DNA cloning, and other standard biotechnology approaches

cellular differentiation

bioinformatics pipelines.

machine learning
