Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution, located in Barcelona (Spain) that promotes and develops innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron. VHIR is oriented towards finding solutions to the health problems of the citizens and has the will to contribute to the scientific, educational, social and economic development within its area of competence.

VHIR is seeking a Project Officer to join the Medical and Molecular Imagining Research Group. The GRIMM (Medical and Molecular Imaging Research Group) is the group expert in medical imaging within the areas of Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology) and Nuclear Medicine. The selected person will work under the leadership of the Radiology Service, on the project SHAIPED from the Radiology Department.

Main responsibilities and duties:

• Coordinate and manage R&D&I projects in the field of medical imaging, radiology, and Artificial Intelligence, including planning, monitoring, and coordinating activities, timelines, milestones, deliverables, resources, risks, and dependencies.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams involving clinicians, researchers, engineers, data scientists, and external partners, ensuring effective communication and alignment between clinical, technical, and research objectives.
• Translate clinical needs and research objectives into clear technical and operational requirements, analysing project needs and supporting the definition of appropriate solutions and activities.
• Support the design, collection, management, preparation, and quality control of clinical and medical imaging datasets, including datasets for AI development, training, validation, and research purposes.
• Coordinate ethical, regulatory, data protection, and governance aspects of research projects, including interactions with Ethics Committees, legal teams, data governance committees, and innovation departments, and contribute to Data Management Plans (DMPs), GDPR-related documentation, and other relevant documentation.
• Support the preparation and coordination of project proposals, reports, deliverables, presentations, scientific and technical documentation, and project meetings, ensuring information and project data are properly organised and up to date.
• Monitor project progress and risks, identifying potential delays or issues and supporting the implementation of corrective actions when required.
• Participate in European and international collaborative research projects, maintaining effective relationships with external institutions, companies, and research partners.
• Provide support to the Radiology Department in patient recruitment and data acquisition, in coordination with the clinical and research teams.

Education and qualifications:

Required:

• Master's degree in Project Management, MBA or a related field.
• Knowledge of medical imaging and clinical research.
• Training or experience in project management and coordination.
• Good command of English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Methodical, organised person with the ability to prioritise according to the needs of each project.

Desirable:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Health Sciences, or a related field.
• Specific training or certification in project management.
• Knowledge of European R&D&I funding programmes and collaborative research projects.
• Additional or specialised training in data management.

Experience and knowledge:

Required:

• At least 3 years’ experience working in research in hospitals.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary R&D&I or clinical research projects.
• Experience working in healthcare, medical research, medical imaging, or a related technological environment.
• Experience coordinating different stakeholders and acting as a bridge between clinical and technical teams.
• Knowledge of medical imaging technologies, particularly CT, MRI, PET, and/or ultrasound.
• Experience with clinical and medical imaging datasets, including data collection, organisation, quality control, and management.
• Knowledge of research data governance, GDPR, ethical requirements, and clinical research procedures.
• Strong organisational, communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Knowledge of REDCap, SAP, DICOM, and basic databases.
• Previous experience with collecting clinical information from electronic records (hospital SAP management).
• Professional experience as a data manager/data entry clerk will be valued.

Desirable:

• Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applied to medical imaging.
• Knowledge of DICOM, PACS, radiomics, image segmentation, and medical image analysis.
• Experience with databases and research data management platforms such as REDCap.
• Experience working with European-funded R&D&I projects and international consortiums.
• Knowledge of Federated Learning, synthetic data, and AI validation methodologies.
• Experience preparing Data Management Plans, DPIAs, ethics submissions, and regulatory documentation.
• Familiarity with data analysis and programming tools such as Python, R, SQL, or advanced Excel/VBA.
• Experience collaborating with hospitals, universities, research institutes, technology companies, and other external partners.

Labour conditions:

• Working hours: Full-time (37,5 hours per week).
• Starting date: 1st of October 2026
• Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
• Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities
