The Toronto Centre for Real-World Evidence (T-RWE) at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, is a leading hub for advancing the generation and use of real-world evidence to inform health policy, clinical practice, and drug safety. Situated within Canada’s premier pharmacy faculty and embedded in a globally recognized health research ecosystem, TRWE brings together interdisciplinary experts in pharmacoepidemiology, data science, and health policy to address pressing challenges in medication use and health systems. Through innovative research, strong partnerships with policymakers and healthcare stakeholders, and a commitment to methodological excellence, T-RWE is shaping how real-world data are leveraged to improve patient outcomes, ensure the safe and effective use of medications, and strengthen evidence-based decision-making across Canada and internationally.

Your opportunity:

The Research Officer will support the Toronto Centre for Real-World Evidence (TRWE) in delivering high-quality research and advancing its operational priorities. Reporting to the Director and working closely with the broader team, this role will contribute to a range of real-world evidence (RWE) data projects, including the coordination of research activities. The Research Officer will also support the day-to-day functions of the Centre, helping to ensure the smooth execution of ongoing initiatives and collaborative projects. This position is well-suited for an early-career individual seeking to build experience in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment that values rigor, collaboration, and applied impact in health research and policy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Disseminating and collecting research surveys and questionnaires
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
  • Providing orientation to others on work procedures and practices
  • Recording and tabulating experiment results
  • Generating reports
  • Conducting systematic literature reviews
  • Coding quantitative research data
  • Applying established standards when preparing routine samples for research projects and/or experiments

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., epidemiology, pharmacy, public health, biostatistics, health services research) or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum two years of relevant research experience, preferably in health research or real-world evidence (RWE) settings.
  • Demonstrated understanding of administrative health (claims) data and/or other real-world data sources (e.g., electronic health records, registries)
  • Experience supporting research projects, including data management and coordination.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with ICES or similar administrative claims data.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical policies.
  • Experience with statistical coding.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 07 -- $60,237. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $77,035. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
