Research Intern

• Department: Gundersen Research Institute
• Position Duration: Full academic year
• Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week

Emplify Health by Gundersen and the Gundersen Research Institute is seeking an undergraduate student to serve as an intern for the full academic year. This position provides research support to Gundersen Research Institute staff, as well as Principal Investigators and other Gundersen Health System staff, for projects that support the mission and objectives of Gundersen Medical Foundation. The ideal candidate will have availability for 10 hours per week with a consistent schedule and must be able to work on site at the La Crosse Campus during typical clinic hours. This role will support current research navigation and nursing research principal investigator-initiated projects.

Major Responsibilities:

• Reviews medical records and/or interviews patients for the purpose of data collection, utilizing a medical or clinical knowledge base to enter and organize relevant information.
• Organizes, collects, and enters data into computer databases and/or case report forms.
• Maintains databases and documents for future retrieval and analysis by research staff and principal investigators.
• Completes all required job-related trainings and certifications within the first 3 months of employment, as applicable.
• Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
• Ability to maintain a consistent 10-hour-per-week schedule for the full academic year
• Ability to work on site at the La Crosse Campus during typical clinic hours

DESIRED

• Coursework or experience in health-related, research, or clinical settings
• Strong organizational, communication, and data entry skills
• Interest in research support, nursing research, or principal investigator-initiated projects
