Your opportunity:

Based within the Research Services Office team, you will support faculty success in a broad range of regular, high-volume domestic, international and internal research funding programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, revising and operationalizing business processes that support research activities and objectives
  • Settling the terms of research funding agreements
  • Interpreting and applying University and sponsor policies to independently determine research compliance
  • Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required
  • Establishing research fund accounts and budgets in accordance with the sponsor’s and University’s policies
  • Advising researchers on pre- and post-research award administration best practices and solutions
  • Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
  • Establishing and maintaining restricted research funds according to agreed-upon sponsor terms and conditions

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years relevant administrative experience (university experience preferred).
  • Experience working with research funding agencies, or other equivalent funding bodies (e.g. government, industry, not-for profit).
  • Experience with the University's Research Information System (RIS) and Financial Information Systems (FIS) or other similar systems.
  • Sound knowledge of University research-related and financial policies and procedures or similar organizational policies and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with a broad range of information systems including spreadsheets, databases and sponsor-based electronic systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solvingskills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Supervisory experience with administrative staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in negotiation and management of agreements.
