Research Fellow, Pathology Research-(2604554)
Conduct and analyze research data using excel and other statistical packages, conduct experiments as indicated by supervisor, interpret laboratory standard operating procedures, follow precautions according to environmental and good laboratory practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform all experiments as indicated by the supervisor.
- Perform cell culture, grow bacterial stocks as needed, infect different cell types according to the experimental plan, and harvest samples for downstream processing.
- Analyze research data using statistical packages and assist the PI in generating tables and figures for publications and grant applications.
- Prepare biological assays and conduct basic quantitative and qualitative analyses.
- Maintain clear laboratory records (both paper and electronic copies) of all tests performed and data collected and analyzed.
- Interpret laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assist the PI in drafting Notification of Use (NOUs) and developing SOPs for approval.
- Follow precautions according to environmental and good laboratory practices.
- Adhere to internal controls established for the department.
- Conduct literature review and participate in weekly lab meetings and other collaborative meetings as needed.
- Assist the PI in the preparation of manuscripts and participate in poster presentations at institutional and national meetings.
- Perform all related duties as required and assigned by the PI. The duties include, but are not limited to, weekly cleaning and organizing of the research laboratory, weekly maintenance of the eye station, ordering lab supplies, updating inventories, and preparing documents for lab inspections and maintenance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior laboratory research experience in microbiology and molecular biology would be preferred.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
