Your next career opportunity
In this Research Fellow role, you will develop stochastic multiscale models for interacting biological populations.

You will deepen your expertise in mathematical modelling and Bayesian inference while learning from three collaborating chief investigators.

You will also build your publication record and professional networks through seminars, conferences and industry engagement.

What you will deliver:

  • Develop and analyse stochastic multiscale models for interacting populations across individual and higher biological scales.

  • Conduct high-quality research leading to publications in leading journals and presentations at seminars and conferences.

  • Integrate diverse modelling approaches over time, moving from single-scale frameworks to fully coupled multiscale systems.

  • Contribute to research proposals, reporting obligations and administrative tasks associated with the ARC Discovery Project.

  • Support supervision, mentoring and coordination of students, helping them engage with project methods and timelines.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Hold or are near completing a PhD in applied mathematics, applied probability, theoretical physics or related fields.

  • Demonstrate experience in mathematical modelling, stochastic processes, Bayesian statistical inference and multiscale modelling.

  • Produce research outputs, including journal articles and reports, that show clear potential for an academic career.

  • Communicate clearly in written and spoken English, with or without reasonable adjustments or assistive technologies.

  • Coordinate complex tasks, manage time effectively and keep projects on track across multiple collaborators and institutions.

  • Collaborate positively in multidisciplinary teams and engage constructively with industry, professional and community stakeholders.
