We are looking for a Research Fellow to lead a project on developing a high-average-power, high-peak-power mid-infrared light source. The successful candidate will work closely with the Reporting Officer and his team to design and build a compact system that generates femtosecond pulses in the mid-infrared region using gas-filled hollow-core fibers. The role includes designing the overall system—such as the hollow-core fiber and its interface with the pump laser, procuring components, assembling the setup, and performing characterization and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and assemble a compact laser system capable of generating high-average-power and high-peak-power femtosecond pulses in the mid-infrared
Design and fabricate antiresonant hollow-core fibers required for the system, in collaboration with fiber fabricators in the team
Prepare progress reports for funding agency
Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues in the laser laboratory
Manage procurement of equipment, components, and consumables
Provide ad-hoc administrative support as needed
Job Requirements:
PhD degree in Physics, Engineering or related field
Technical hands-on experience in experimental ultrafast optics, mid-infrared optics, or related field
Ability to lead a research project under strict timelines with minimal supervision
Good written and oral communication skills
