
We are looking for a Research Fellow to support the Principal Investigator in advancing research on gesture, sign language, and computational linguistics. The role will focus on designing and conducting experiments, analysing gesture and sign language data, and collaborating with the PI and project partners on related publications and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and conduct experiments on gesture and sign language;
Annotate and analyse video/motion-capture data;
Apply statistical methods to linguistic data
Collaborate with the PI and partners on findings and publications;
Supervise junior student assistants;
Prepare reports and contribute to publications;
Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and project timelines.
Job Requirements:
PhD in Linguistics, Sign Language Studies, Cognitive Science, or a related field;
Relevant experience in gesture studies, sign language research, or experimental linguistics;
Proficiency in video/motion-capture annotation tools and statistical/computational analysis (e.g. R, Python, ELAN);
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines.
