Our research spans diverse and impactful areas including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative disorders, telomere biology, and genome function. Join the laboratory of Liu Chuan Fa at the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to a project focused on developing protein conjugates and cyclic peptides as therapeutic agents using bioconjugation and peptide chemistry techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Develop peptide cyclization methods
Develop bioconjugation techniques using plant-derived AEPs and other enzymes
Evaluate pharmacological activity of cyclic peptides and bioconjugates
Supervise attachment students (FYP, URECA and interns)
Develop and use AI tools for drug discovery
Write up, publish and present research results in peer-reviewed international journals and at scientific conferences.
Job Requirements
A PhD degree in biological sciences or related areas, with prior training in medicinal chemistry, peptide and protein science
Experience in small-molecule drug discovery, peptide synthesis, protein chemistry and bioconjugation research
Experience in basic cell & molecular biology, analytical chemistry and biophysics techniques (bacterial and mammalian cell culture, PCR, RT-PCR and ELISA, NMR, Mass Spectrometry, microscopy and flow cytometry)
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
Strong publication record
