The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), Nanyang Technological University, is the host school for the project “Building Community Resilience Against Sea-Level Rise” (Grant H2_2024-3_T10). The project is funded by the National Parks Board (NParks) under the Marine Climate Change Science Coastal Protection (MCCS) call and brings together CEE and the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) to integrate geospatial modelling, behavioural risk-perception research, agent-based simulation, and community engagement design in support of Singapore’s coastal adaptation efforts.
We are looking for a Research Fellow (ABM & Simulation) to lead Module D — ABM design, calibration, and validation — for the NParks MCCS project on community resilience against sea-level rise.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design, calibration, and validation of an Agent-Based Model (Module D);
Consume LCA-based archetype outputs as inputs to ABM agent profiles;
Build a handover-ready simulation interface for government agencies;
Conduct scenario planning, Monte Carlo and sensitivity analyses;
Develop workshops and training materials for agency handover of the simulation tool;
Contribution to project reports, conference presentations, and top-tier journal publications.
Job Requirements
PhD in CS, Computational Social Science, Complex Systems, Operations Research, or related.
Strong Python (Mesa) and/or NetLogo ABM expertise;
Experience with empirical ABM calibration and Monte Carlo / sensitivity analysis;
Ability to develop user-facing simulation interfaces;
Track record of ABM-related publications.
We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
