
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join Dr. Sasha Gusev’s statistical genetics research group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Brigham & Women’s Division of Genetics. This role focuses on developing computational and statistical methods to study the inherited basis of cancer and other common diseases using large-scale molecular, sequencing, and clinical data. Research areas include integrating multi-modal genomic data, examining the relationship between germline and somatic variation in cancer, and building predictive models of clinical outcomes such as therapy response and toxicity. The position offers strong collaboration opportunities across Dana-Farber, Harvard Medical School, and the Broad Institute, as well as flexibility for fellows to help shape their own research projects. Candidates should have a PhD in a quantitative or computational field, strong programming and analytical skills, and a track record of research productivity.

A post-doctoral position is available in the statistical genetics research group of Dr. Alexander (Sasha) Gusev, Assistant Professor at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Brigham & Women's Division of Genetics. The fellow will work closely with Dr. Gusev, and with collaborators at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, and The Broad Institute. The lab ( http://www.gusevlab.org) focuses on developing computational methods to understand the heritable component of cancer and common diseases by leveraging large-scale data. Our research interests include (but are not limited to): (1) developing methods to integrate multi-modal molecular data (ex: bulk and single-cell gene expression / chromatin activity) with large-scale association studies to decipher disease mechanisms; (2) using large-scale tumor sequencing studies to understand the relationship between heritable/germline and somatic variation in cancer; (3) incorporating germline/somatic variation into predictive models of clinical outcomes including therapy response and toxicity. The fellow will have the opportunity to work with large-scale tumor/germline sequencing studies and electronic health record data available in-house and through many collaborations. Though the lab's focus is on statistical/quantitative methods, we collaborate broadly with experimentalist groups to validate and inform our hypotheses. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to design their own projects relating to these and other concepts, with the primary expectation being productive science and impactful manuscripts in research topics that are of interest to the fellow.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in genetics, functional genomics, computer science, statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related quantitative research field; strong quantitative skills including proficiency in at least one programming language; a publication record. Knowledge of complex trait mapping, regulatory biology, clinical genetics, or population genetics is a plus.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
