Job Description

Rusk Rehabilitation at NYU Langone Health is recruiting for a full-time research faculty member at the Associate Professor level or higher. The successful candidate will serve as Principal Investigator of the Rusk Rehabilitation Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System and will play a central role in advancing the department’s research mission. Responsibilities include:

Serving as Principal Investigator of the Rusk Rehabilitation Traumatic Brain Injury Model System

Preparing and submitting a competitive grant application for the upcoming TBI Model System grant cycle (2027–2032)

Participating in and leading applications for extramurally funded research from federal sponsors (NIH or other), non-federal sponsors, and foundation-funded research grants

Successfully leading and completing major components of extramurally funded research projects, coordinating project methodology, data collection, and analysis

Preparing and reviewing manuscripts for publication; maintaining a strong track record of authoring peer-reviewed publications

Forging productive collaborations with investigators within Rusk Rehabilitation and, as appropriate, with faculty in other departments at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and at New York University

Participating in training activities and engaging in mentoring post-doctoral fellows, medical students, residents, other trainees, and staff, as requested

Supervising and providing day-to-day direction to research staff, including research coordinators, data analysts, and research assistants, ensuring quality and productivity across all research activities.

Contributing to a collegial and collaborative research environment within Rusk Rehabilitation, including active participation in research group meetings, sharing of methodological expertise, and fostering a culture of scientific exchange and mutual support among faculty and trainees.

Participating in departmental and institutional activities as requested by the Chair or institutional leadership

Salary Range: $165,000-$170,00, The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not includeincentive compensation or benefits. Actual salary may not fall within the listed salary range; consideration will be made for expereience, training, hospital/ community need, and other factors.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Sc.D.) or its professional equivalent. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of extramurally funded research, peer-reviewed publications, and experience leading multi-site or large-scale research projects. Experience with TBI research and/or federal research grant mechanisms (e.g., NIDILRR, NIH) is required.
