Comprising 1,650 researchers spread across 14 Research Centres around the world, our Global R&D team aims to continuously improve the quality of steel and its manufacturing processes. This involves investigating and developing disruptive technologies, reducing the carbon footprint of steel, and optimizing costs while maintaining uncompromising quality. The team's strong multicultural diversity, with over 30 nationalities, offers international experience and makes it possible to meet global needs.
The job proposed is in the Metallic Coatings and Surfaces (MCS) cluster belonging to the Product Research Center. This cluster, consisting of about 80 people, aims to master and develop both existing and new metallic coatings, surface treatments, and innovative processes.
To achieve these objectives, various areas of expertise are developed and applied, including corrosion resistance, surface analysis, coating behavior/characterization, and the hot-dip galvanizing process.
Your role
The position offered is within the Metallic Coating Product Development Team. In this team, activities focus on improving and developing innovative pre-coated metallic coating solutions for different steel markets: automotive, industry and appliances. The position open is related to new products development and roll out in ArcelorMittal plants or Joint Ventures.
We are looking for a highly motivated Research Engineer with strong interpersonal skills, project management background, and technical skills to support the development and global deployment of advanced metallic coating solutions.
You will be in charge of managing project dealing with implementation of cost-effective coating solutions for Electric Vehicle battery packs. In this field, you will be responsible for the technical survey on activities linked to emerging technologies, regulations, and breakthrough developments. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and research partners to develop future product solutions and define technical specifications.
In parallel, you will drive the industrial scale-up and roll-out of new metallic coating technologies, supporting product qualification and process optimization. Specific activity is foreseen dealing with cost and yield improvement, and quality performance. The role includes coordinating deployment activities across plants, providing technical guidance during industrial trials and ramp-up phases, and promoting best practices throughout the manufacturing network.
