A Brief Overview
We are currently searching for a Research Data Analyst to determine data-related requirements from research customers and translates these requirements into an executable data query. Database-centric responsibilities include mining, aggregation, wrangling, and trend analysis for child health researchers. Possesses functional knowledge of database query standards, data visualization, and best practices for working with protected health information. This position will focus on obtaining specific patient information for the Child Health Research Institute, in particular the Nebraska Pediatric Clinic Trials Unit and will utilize a range of source systems including the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Essential Functions

  • Determine the type of data request (feasibility, operations, quality improvement) and accordingly whether the request has the needed permissions for execution Assess requests for complete definition in inclusion, exclusion, and measure definitions including the use of standard terminologies (ICD, CPT, etc.) as applicable to ensure multi-site reproducibility. Work with researchers to elicit the nature of the study and determine the best source data
  • Query and integrate databases using SQL Develop reports, dashboards, universes, and extracts for researchers.
  • Administers Epic hyperspace reporting tools Reporting Workbench and Radar Create dashboards and refreshable reports for prospective studies and research operations
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Health Informatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field Required and
  • Master's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience directly related experience querying/tidying/summarizing data in a hospital or healthcare environment Required and
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in clinical or public health research Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with EHR Data Abstraction
  • Understanding of one of the common data models (PCORnet, OMOP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of clinical terminologies (ICD, SNOWMED, CPT, etc.)
  • Experience with data management of extensive and complex data sets
  • Ability to map between common research study designs and their reporting frequency and specification needs
  • Experience preparing local data for inclusion in multi-site databases
  • Experience using data query/reporting/visualization tools (MS-SQL, R, Shiny, SQL, Python, SAS)
  • Experience using enterprise business intelligence applications (QlikView, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with electronic data capturing/workflow methodology software (REDCap) for designing clinical and translational research databases.

Licenses and Certifications

  • EPIC - EPIC Certification Clinical Data Model certification within 1 Year Required and
  • EPIC - EPIC Certification Caboodle certification Preferred
