  • Opportunity for a Research associate or a Postdoctoral Research Associate – Biostatistics to join a multi-disciplinary cardiovascular research program working across the Charles Perkins Centre and Kolling Institute.

  • Base salary Level A $89,831 - $121,054 +17% superannuation

About the opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Research Associate /Postdoctoral Research Associate – Biostatistics to join a team of researchers, under the supervision of Chief Investigators Prof. Gemma Figtree and Prof. Jean Yang. As indicated in the position titles, although a PhD is not requirement, we are also willing to recruit someone interested in a Postdoctoral position. The successful applicant will also be part of the Sydney Precision Data Science Centre and School of Mathematics and Statistics. We have a strong team working on various aspects of applied statistics and biostatistics research. We are interested in applying biostatistics methods to solve clinical problems in medicine and digital health.

Your key responsibilities will be to work independently and as part of a team to conduct data analysis on large-scale biomedical and/or clinical datasets, publish research papers in international peer-reviewed journals, present at conferences, and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students.

About you

  • demonstrated strong biostatistics or statistical genetics background

  • proven data analysis experience

  • demonstrated ability to conduct research / scholarly activities under limited supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary research team

  • good organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail

  • superior computer programming or software development skills good communication skills (both written and oral).

Applicants who demonstrate the following desirable criteria will be highly regarded:

  • experience in clinical analytics, experience with biostatistics or biomedical data science consulting ability to assist researchers from other disciplines

  • comprehensive experience of common online bioinformatics software and databases such as, UniProt, GenBank or BLAST etc strong general IT skills, including familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and HPC server.
