The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Associate (Trainee Genetic Counsellor) in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Support genetic counsellors and physicians in clinical and research activities
Assist in patient counselling by explaining genetic conditions to patients and families
Collect and interpret family and medical histories
Coordinate genetic testing and liaise with external laboratories
Assist in data analysis, study reports, and research documentation
Maintain proper filing, quality checks, and archiving of research data (CRFs)
Participate in clinics, ward consults, and multidisciplinary team meetings
Support genetic data repository management
Participate in teaching sessions, workshops, and case conferences
Ensure compliance with SOPs and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Master’s in Human Genetics (preferred) or Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences / Biotechnology
1–2 years of relevant experience in research or genetics/genomics
Basic understanding of NGS data interpretation and bioinformatics
Basic clinical knowledge in genetics
Good communication and counselling skills
Strong scientific writing and documentation skills
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
Willingness to participate in academic and research activities.
