The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Associate (Trainee Genetic Counsellor) in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Job Role / Responsibilities:

  • Support genetic counsellors and physicians in clinical and research activities

  • Assist in patient counselling by explaining genetic conditions to patients and families

  • Collect and interpret family and medical histories

  • Coordinate genetic testing and liaise with external laboratories

  • Assist in data analysis, study reports, and research documentation

  • Maintain proper filing, quality checks, and archiving of research data (CRFs)

  • Participate in clinics, ward consults, and multidisciplinary team meetings

  • Support genetic data repository management

  • Participate in teaching sessions, workshops, and case conferences

  • Ensure compliance with SOPs and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Master’s in Human Genetics (preferred) or Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences / Biotechnology

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in research or genetics/genomics

  • Basic understanding of NGS data interpretation and bioinformatics

  • Basic clinical knowledge in genetics

  • Good communication and counselling skills

  • Strong scientific writing and documentation skills

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams

  • Willingness to participate in academic and research activities.
