Job Description
The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Associate on a 16-month contract at the Physical Education and Sport Science department.
Project Introduction: Problem gambling rates in Singapore has remained stable amidst a rise in online betting, highlighting the need for more effective public health messaging. One prevalent form of betting in Singapore is that of sport betting, which has been shown to be linked to more addiction related tendencies as compared to other forms of the activity. The aim of this research proposal is to investigate differential effectiveness of marketing messages on the public.
Requirements:
Essential
- Master's Degree in Psychology, Sport Science/Management, Marketing/Consumer Behaviour, or a related social science discipline.
- Experience in quantitative research methods, specifically in setting up and administering multi-factor, between-subjects experimental designs and surveys.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (such as SPSS, R, or equivalent) to analyse experimental and survey data.
- Strong literature review and academic writing skills, with the ability to contribute to systematic review papers and research reports.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to coordinate with local participants and international institutional collaborators.
- Ability to work independently and manage data collection milestones efficiently within the designated timelines.
Preferred
- Experience with eye-tracking technology, including calibrating eye-trackers and processing physiological visual/gaze data.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and actively assist in the preparation and submission of a systematic review paper.
- Coordinate and execute laboratory data collection, involving the usage of an eye tracking device.
- Manage and maintain ethical safeguarding protocols, ensuring proper informed consent, participant risk screening, and thorough post-task debriefings.
- Perform statistical analysis of results of existing datasets
- Contribute to writing up findings, academic research reports, and preparing materials for potential research publications or conferences.
- Handle administrative duties related to the daily operations of projects under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
Note: This is a primarily in-person role based on-site at the National Institute of Education (NIE) campus in Singapore to facilitate laboratory-based experiments and day to day operations.
