DIVISION NAME

Worcester Polytechnic Institute - WPIA full-time research associate position is available in the laboratory of Inna Nechipurenko at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Our lab uses C. elegans and mammalian cell culture models to investigate the molecular basis of neurodevelopmental disorders and the roles of primary cilia in neuronal development. The successful candidate will learn and implement basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. molecular cloning and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing), cell culture, immunofluorescence, and microscopy as well as contribute to smooth day to day lab operations by maintaining databases of lab reagents, preparing common buffers, and training undergraduate students in basic lab techniques.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out molecular biology experiments such as PCR, plasmid construction, CRISPR-Cas9 editing
• Perform high-resolution microscopy on live and fixed samples
• Carry out basic cell culture experiments such as transfections and immunofluorescence
• Carry out general lab maintenance that includes making and autoclaving buffers and maintaining databases of lab reagents

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. or M.S. in Biology or a related field
• Excellent communication, organization, and record-keeping skills
• Molecular biology experience and basic knowledge of genetics are required
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A minimum two-year commitment

Salary range is $47,500 - $50,000 and will be commensurate with experience. Please include a copy of your CV, cover letter, and contact information for three references with your application.
