The R&D Product Development Department within Nanostring, a subsidiary of Bruker, is seeking a Research Associate to support the efforts of developing next-generation spatial molecular technologies. This is a hands-on, experimental science position focused on tissue processing, high-resolution imaging, assay development, Technology Access Program (TAP) and strategic collaborations. This role will offer you the opportunity to learn about biotech prototyping, systems integration and process engineering, and gain experience in the translational science field and customer interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively in a product-oriented team environment and interact with TAP customers and collaborators when needed.
  • Perform 70-80% bench work on tissue sample sectioning, processing, instrument setup, data collection, and troubleshooting when needed.
  • Design, carry out and interpret experiments with limited supervision. Deliver results under tight timelines.
  • Curate large, complex data sets and make independent scientific conclusions by using data analysis packages.
  • Organize and communicate results to supervisor and senior management verbally and/or in writing. Present data to product development teams and marketing representatives.
  • Write protocols, experimental summary reports, quality documents and other scientific literature associated with the projects
  • Maintain and manipulate biological specimens (BSL-2 tissues) associated with your research.
  • Manage lab reagent inventory and maintain the instruments.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in biochemistry, molecular or cell biology or a related discipline
  • At least 2 years (for B.S.) or 0-2 years (for M.S. or other advanced degree) of hands-on experience on molecular biology or assay development
  • Experience with DNA/RNA extraction, storage, amplification and characterization, in the context of high-throughput analysis
  • Experience with tissue/cell culture, in situ hybridization and immunofluorescence staining
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy and optical imaging
  • Experience with histology/pathology lab work.
  • Strong analytical skills on molecular assays and quantitative measurements
  • Organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated. Enjoy working in a multidisciplinary, collaborative and fast-moving team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with image processing and scientific programing (R, Python)
  • Experience with nanomaterials science or photochemistry

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $62,430 and $118,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position.
