Our research group, funded by Google, is seeking highly motivated candidates to join a project that leverages large language models (LLMs) to accelerate biological research.
The project focuses on using LLMs to support computation-driven discoveries in biology. In particular, we aim to
(i) Curate a large corpus of biological research papers and build a structured database of experimental data and results
(ii) Develop and benchmark retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems to identify related data, results, and explanations for specific research questions
(iii) Generate computational models and analysis code to simulate or interpret biological experiments
This project builds upon our recent publications
- LINE1 and PRC2 control nucleolar organization and repression of the 8C state in human ESCs (Developmental Cell, 2025)
- Epigenetic reprogramming of a distal developmental enhancer cluster drives SOX2 overexpression in breast and lung adenocarcinoma (Nucleic Acids Research, 2023)
Our long-term goal is to build a toolkit that helps biologists automatically create computational models that simulate biological processes such as transcription, epigenetic regulation, and metabolism. These simulations aim to accelerate the development of advanced therapies for cancer, aging, and neurodegenerative diseases.
