Job Location: Torrance Campus - Torrance, CA 90502
Position Type: FT 100% - 40 hours per week (FT Benefit)
Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly

About Us:
The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is an independent, non-profit biomedical research organization located in Torrance, California. In dozens of laboratories throughout the campus, researchers are working to unravel the mysteries of heart and kidney disease, cardiac complications in newborns, chronic lung disease, skin cancer, sickle cell disease, disorders of the autoimmune system, and much more. Many of these projects are collaborative in nature, involving experts from different areas of specialization. Our discoveries have prevented blindness in newborns, enabled premature infants with fragile lungs to breathe and allowed children with rare, often fatal diseases to grow up healthy and strong.
TEMPORARY POSITION

Requirements:
- One plus years of experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or physiology. Additional experience with extensive bench lab work is preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, medical laboratory technology or a related subject
Skills:
- Fundamental molecular techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and qRT-PCR validation for gene expression analysis.
- Human induced pluripotent stem cells (h-iPSCs).
- Expertise in identifying and validating specific miRNAs.
- CRISPR/Cas9 technology and its application.
- Skills in mouse husbandry, blood and tissue retrieval, with preferable skill in dissection of brain regions.
- Skills in immunofluorescence techniques and imaging.
- Skills in routine biochemistry.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Expertise in data analysis and bioinformatics.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in laboratory based investigations into the mechanisms of fetal and newborn developmental programming of offspring obesity.
- Setting up and monitoring maternal obesity model in mice
- Collecting and analyzing specific regions of the brain for gene expression
- Establishing and analyzing primary cell cultures and immortalized cell lines.
