The holder of this position will be in charge of the processing and characterization of isotopically enriched samples which will be studied with muon spin rotation and beta detected NMR. They will plan and help execute the experiments as well as analyze the data. They will also take a lead role in preparation of articles for publication in scientific journals.
The holder will be part of an international team of scientists doing experiments at major international labs in England, Switzerland and Canada where beams of polarized muons and radioactive nuclei are used to probe the local magnetic and electronic properties of novel materials. The holder of this position will report directly to the principle investigator.
The holder will coordinate and take a lead role in the processing and characterization of isotopically enriched samples of quantum materials which will be studied with muon spin rotation and beta detected NMR. They will plan and help execute the experiments as well as analyze the data. They will also take a lead role in preparation of articles intended for publication in scientific journals.
The holder of this position will have a high level of autonomy. Major decisions will be made in consultation with the principle investigator and are made jointly.
The holder will meet with the principle investigator on a weekly basis to discuss progress and share ideas.
Ph.D in Physical Chemistry or Condensed Matter Physics preferred. They should also have experience with processing and characterizing samples with enriched stable isotopes. They should have extensive experience in muon spin rotation and beta-detected NMR.
Individual must be skillful in analysis of data from muSR and beta-NMR experiments. They need excellent communication skills both written and oral. They also need experience with the characterization of samp
