The Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries (DACI) provides conceptual and practical training for students seeking careers in the burgeoning creative and cultural industries in Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area, and beyond. The Department offers three BA (Hon) programmes (Animation and Digital Arts; Film and Visual Arts; Creative Media Industries) and two MA programmes (Creative and Media Industries; Curating and Art History). The appointee will teach a wide range of subjects including animation, digital arts and immersive media, film and media studies, art history and curation. DACI is inviting applications for fixed-term position of Research Assistant Professor to contribute to teaching and development of the Taught Master Programmes: MA in Curating and Art History (MACAH) and MA in Creative and Media Industries (MACMI). The appointee is expected to: i) teach courses in two of the following areas: art history, curating, media and creative industries; ii) student recruitment and admission, and iii) contribute to the research productivity of the Department and apply for RGC grants.

Requirements

Applicants for the position should have:

(i) A PhD degree in art history, museum studies, or creative/media industries;

(ii) Good track record of referred publications, awards or competitive grants;

(iii) Experience or strong capability in teaching postgraduate courses and supervising student capstone projects;

(iv) Familiarity with regional creative landscapes, including East Asian art, media, and creative industries.

(v) Ability to teach material culture, art and aesthetics, East Asian creative industries or AI and creative industries will have an advantage.

Candidates should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.
