This position consists of a OPS Research Assistant supervised by the Senior Educational Program Director in the Dispute Resolution and Monitoring (DRM) section of the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS). This position will work closely with the DRM section and the support staff from other sections. The person in this position is expected to perform highly responsible administrative work as related to the statutory regulations of the education profession in the State of Florida. This position requires excellent communication skills in dealing with the public, appointed commissioners, and members of both the legal and educational professions. This is a great opportunity for someone highly organized, detail-oriented, and can communicate effectively.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

  • Review requirements for publications, documents and forms in the bureau
  • Answer phones
  • Coordinate communication and scheduling for required activities
  • Assist with tracking and filing papers and electronic documents
  • Research materials for professional staff for conferences and meetings
  • Tracks and updates data systems in Excel

  • This is a student position. The applicant must currently be a student and able to provide class schedule on request.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with multiple stakeholders

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
