Research Assistant / Junior Research Assistant (2 Positions) (25260138)

Position: Research Assistant

Responsibilities:

The appointee will assist the project leader in:

  • Conducting research projects relating to machine learning, data analysis, and software development;
  • Assisting in the design of experiments, algorithm coding, and analysis of large datasets;
  • Developing and maintaining websites and web applications;
  • Ensuring cross-browser and cross-device website functionality;
  • Recruiting study participants, conducting interviews, and administering cognitive assessments;
  • Handling enquiries from research participants; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor in relation to the study.

The appointee may be required to work occasionally on irregular hours and during Saturdays and Sundays.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline;
  • Possess strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Java, C++, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL);
  • Have experience with data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles;
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail;
  • Have good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • Be proficient in computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SPSS; and
  • Be a good team player and capable of working independently.

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in research involving health technology development.

Position: Junior Research Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining websites and web applications;
  • Ensuring cross-browser and cross-device website functionality;
  • Recruiting study participants, conducting interviews, and administering cognitive assessments;
  • Handling enquiries from research participants; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor in relation to the study.

The appointee may be required to work occasionally on irregular hours and during Saturdays and Sundays.

Requirements

  • Have a bachelor’s degree preferably in psychology, public health, social sciences or other related disciplines;
  • Have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • Have good computer literacy including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SPSS; and
  • Be a good team player and able to work independently.

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in old age research.
