Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref: 537027)

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will work with Dr. Vanessa W.S. Ng’s research team on pharmacoepidemiology research studies. He/she will assist the Principal Investigator in leading the project and will:

  • Handle ethics applications and data access applications;
  • Handle recruitment of participants at external sites and seek informed consent;
  • Perform data analysis and crosschecking;
  • Assist in writing reports, manuscripts for publications and/or presentations; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above in healthcare-related disciplines or data sciences, including but not limited to pharmacy, public health, statistics, biostatistics, computer science, data science, mathematics, engineering or a related discipline with substantial training in quantitative research methods;
  • Relevant working experience as a Research Assistant or Research Associate would be highly desirable;
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Cantonese/Chinese, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Analytical, mature, attentive to details, and able to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team;
  • Research experience in analysing electronic health records/big data using statistical and/or mathematical approaches (e.g. R, Stata, SAS, Python) would be highly desirable;
  • Having experience in conducting scoping review, systematic review and/or qualitative interviews would be advantageous.

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term or two-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
